GIJOE IRMFAN XMENFILM WTCHM ROLLOUT AKIRA

8.7.07

is this the final transformers movie toys update post?

with the launch of Hasbro's dedicated Transformers-movie toys website [via], there really isn't much left to be "discovered", is there?

granted, it doesn't have the hi-res image-goodness of individual collector's personal toy-pics, but i reckon the kick of the image-hunt has all but been extinguished, innit? at the very least for me ... and what else have we got to look forward to?

meanwhile as i ponder the fates of future Transformer-toy updates, peep a video-review of Optimus Prime and various other trans-toy-titbits here:

i've gotta ask: why is the Legend Series RATCHET in green instead of yellow? do younger kids have a lesser tolerance for recognizing the color-spectrum? ... i don't understand ...

and amidst all the "big-boys-toys" (let's tell the truth for once, the higher-end priced toys are to cater to the kidults and not the toddlers, yeh?) there are the expected "pure-kiddy" products, including "dumbed-down"-Transformers (in terms of "details", yeh?) - ie: the cutesy "super-deformed" Robot Heroes, yeh? - which frankly would make more interesting chess-peiecs, as opposed to these, innit? IMHO, 'natch :p

... but what's this about a die-cast Optimus Prime?

[via] reportedly apparently the figure has die-cast parts and is produced
by Takara ... will find out more on this ... perhaps ... :p

also, find out where Optimus Prime's driver disappears to,
by downloading/viewing the WMV here
[via]

and besides buying the actual product for yourself, what's the
next best thing to seeing toy-images online? watch videos of
toy-reviews, that is! [via/via]
*heh*

diggin' the miniature shoe-box tho LOL ... go peep some detailed shots of Transforming shoes on Seibertron :)
niketransneeks02
me, i'm wondering if they'll ever release the other feet of the shoes (ie: right/left feet), for a matching pair, innit? mayhap an anniversary edition ... *heh*

transformers toys 2007: voyager prime and swindle

Voyager-class Optimus Prime takes center-stage with these high-res images from TFormers.com [via] which shows Primes' exhaust as hand-blasters *schweet*
voyagerprime
while online auctions [via] reveal dismally small images of Bumblebee,
Bonecrusher and Swindle in-package:

(shown above is the in-package image, together with screengrabs from the online Transformers Game of the "Red Drone") - i've not read about "Swindle" being a part of the movie tho ... altho in Alternator Transformers, Swindle is a yellow Jeep instead ... :p

anyways, can't wait for trusty Transfans to win the auction and post multiple hi-res images of the toys/vehicles online, yeh? *muahahaha*

transformers toys 2007: burger king promos & megatron protos

ya know, when i start a blog post with fastfood-toys, you know it's time to wind-up and fast ... even if they happen to be Burger King X Transformer movie-promo toys!
transformking
[on auction / info via] - the figures include Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Ironhide, Scorponok, Ratchet, and Blackout.

yes, gentle readers, Transformers movie toy news has come to an abrupt stop a virtual stand-still crawl, with most of the "surprises" and toy-images already revealed online, in various stages of evolution, from proto-types and test shots, to packaged toys - it's just not as fun anymore tracking them, isn't it? *heh*

regardless, these BK-toys literally forms and converts the next generation of Transfans, dunnit? and it is interesting (if not "predictable") how and where the franchise of Transformers would lead, especially with the talk of a movie-sequel in 2009 and a possible revamped cartoon series based on the movie-version on CBR [via]
""Transformers 2" is being prepped for 2009, as is a new cartoon series to spin off the upcoming movie ... The reason given to licensors as to why the robots look so different in the film is so that hardcore fans will stay loyal and keep buying the old toys, which they're relaunching, even if they hate the new movie ... Licensing has explicitly stated that companies doing merchandising have to avoid doing anything too similar to the original Transformers line, so as not to mix the two separate and profitable properties."
= LOL *more toys made, more money spent buying*

and while the young'uns scramble for their happy meals and whatnot, us "kidults" (who most probably will end up paying for them as well) will just haveta contend with proto-form Megatron-figures (which essentially, is not that big a leap of toy-evolution from the kiddie-promos, innit? *heh*)

more transforming-nike convoy and megatron images

ya know, i really wanna stop posting images of them transforming-sneakers becoz they add nothing of value to my life, except for taunting me and looking pretty darn cool nifty! *LOL*

transformers toys 2007: megatron, barricade and nike

pretty dismal on the toy-front, with loads enroute to toyshelves toy-warehouses globally (im sure :p), and/or already shown online to death (and i've seen the Real Gear figures up close at the local flea market but am unwilling to part with SGD$40 per piece, prototype or not :p) ... anyways, have a gander at the TFW2005.com release of Megatron Alt Mode (Proto-form?) - with the "encased-in-ICE" effect, that matches the on-set image [shown here]:
megatroniceform
sweet-adaption, IMHO ... but not exactly on my to-buy-list ... *meh*

but i gotta say, this test-shot of Barricade in both vehicular and robot mode is looking mighty purdy in tangerine and violet pink [via]
barricadetestshot
ladies and gentlemen, this would be what it would like, if ever Hasbro's Transformers were to collaborate/crossover with Mattel's Barbie ... altho i wouldn't mind a 1/6th-version of that, seriously! *LOL*

and while this is not exactly "official-Transformer-movie"-related toy, here's yet another round of images [via] to add to your Transformers Sports Label Nike Free 7.0 series image-collection [first posted here]

transformers toys 2007: fab brawl, voyager ironhide and chess set

the last we saw FAB Brawl was in his "TANK" mode [view here]

and now peep his ROBOT-mode [image gallery here]

and no, i still can't get enough of Voyager Ironhide ...
megatronoptimus of tfw2005.com shares hi-res images here:

*including an awesome "transformation sequence"!*

now if someone would stop-motion-animate these, it would be near-perfect *LOL*

and if chess is your poison, peep the Transformers Chess Set from SOTA Toys

[peep hi-res image-gallery here]

standing @ approximately 3.5" tall each, on a Classic Tranformers Generation-1-themed chess board measuring approximately 17" X 17" X 3" (SRP of USD$299.99) ... personally, if only they'd put a tad more "effort" or "thought" on the chess board itself (like this uber-cool dioramic Spiderman rooftop) ... mayhap the surface of Cybertron? *heh*

transformer prototype toys update 2007 part twelve

with the recent unveil of Ultimate Bumblebee and Leader Class Optimus Prime at NYTF, mayhap Transfans are suitably "pacified" for a short while (longer), before the desire/need to see the rest of the toys! and with 5 months more to go before the launch of the feature film, we'd still be on the lookout for any Trans-news ... and with this, a coupla more Test Shots have just hit ebay [via] - namely Ironhide and Blackout from the Voyager Class-series (blogged), with more angles to what we have seen before (but always worth another look, innit? *heh*)

Voyager Class Blackout test shot [via]:
voyagerblackout
(blogged) the painted-over windscreens are getting a tad "disturbing" (but of coz it IS a test-shot here, innit? :p), and Scorponok is turning out too cute as the wee Decepticon that flings out of his mecha-butt LOL

Voyager Class Ironhide test shot [via]:
voyagerironhide
his gun-turret is insane tho LOL

more Ironhide images @ TFormers.com :p

transformers bumblebee @ nytf 2007 demo video

a 40-seconds demo of the 14"-er Ultimate Bumblebee [featured here]

[via Tranformerslive]
" In car mode, BUMBLEBEE is an approximately 1/14 scale CAMARO concept with realistic car features. By rolling the vehicle you activate headlights and revving engine sounds. Stopping activates taillights and screeching brakes or crashing sounds

After you manually convert the car to robot mode, BUMBLEBEE stands an impressive 14” tall. With the touch of a button, robotic BUMBLEBEE comes to “life” with speech, music – featuring DEVO’s “Whip It”, battle and conversion sounds and fully animated head, arms and wings. BUMBLEBEE’s sound detection capabilities enable him to respond to noise, and he can also automatically aim and fire a missile."
[via / press release]
Devo's Whip It? hell, Whip It GOOD! LOL

star wars transformers 2007

what do you get when you combine a Star Wars Deathstar with Transformers?

Death-Vader-Star! (okay, that was lame and thoroughly inacccurate LOL)

peep all images via TWF2005.com's NYTF-press event preview images:

the series includes: Commander Cody/Clone Turbo Tank, Luke/Snowspeeder, Clone Pilot/Republic Gunship and more (no other details at this point of post)

- Seibertron.com covered the event as well (with near 128-images)
- SirStevesGuide.com has a gallery too :)

Star Wars Transformers were last seen here on this blog, and i've actually seen them @ Toys'R'Us and unfortunately did not appeal to me that much, as fun as the premise is/was, IMHO ... sometimes oogling at online pictures is good enough, i reckon ... *heh*

transformers toys 2007: new york toy fair part one

first we are treated to these delicious (rendered?) images of Ultimate Bumblebee on the Hasbro-website [images via], along with Optimus Prime (featured here just):
ultimatebumblebee
and i could but only drool in anticipation and veiled-fear = becoz it just looks too good to be "true" ... and in less that 24-hours, TFW2005.com previewed the current New York Toy Fair and came away with images galore for us Transfans!

Ultimate Bumblebee in all his 14"-er tall mecha toy-glory!
toyfairbumblebee
am actually quite in awe ... this dude has just become a MUST-GET Autobot for me!
[view original hi-res images here]

added 14.02.07: a 40-second video presentation/demo of Ultimate Bumblebee in action :)

altho im actually a tad disappointed with Leader Class Optimus Prime tho ... either this is a thoroughly unfinished prototype, or they couldn't be bothered to paint/weather the metal-parts (now seen as grey-plastic), as compared to the previous rawkin'-images:
toyfairoptimus
[view original hi-res images here] where's da lurve for Prime?

but an interesting "surprise" turned out to be the Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet:

(featured here) gosh! dunnit look cool?

[all images via] officially, alla these Trans-toys are slated for a June 2nd 2007-drop, in tandem with the launch of the live-action Transformers-movie on July 4th (with additional items hitting in the Fall of 2007) = so there's plenty of time to start saving-up your mad-Trans-toys-money, folks! *muahahahahaha*

transformers prototype toys update 2007 part eleven

Seibertron.com currently has an extensive and comprehensive gallery of Transformers-movie prototype-toys, primarily procured from ebay-auctions and snappity-snapped for Transfans' pleasure, hence, Seibertron.com rawks! ... here is a visual summary of their collection so far [all images via]:

my current Autobot-fav, Ratchet, with 200 images in total - including transformation poses!
ratchetgallery
*awesome* [view entire hi-res gallery here]

Starscream takes center stage here, with 169 images by diablien - featuring the prototype with the red-disfigured face that has been circulating online (and i was wrong, it is not a "battle-damaged"-variant, tis just a production "defect", turned "unique" piece :p):

transformers toys 2007: optimus prime, fabs and leaked catalogs

a joyous Transformer-movie toys weekend it has started to shape up, firstly with this uber-cool image of Hasbro's Optimus Prime as shown with an interview on Wizard (with Hasbro's Director of Marketing Greg Lombardo):
ultimateprime01
*now this is what im talking about! TRANSFORMERS, ROLL OUT!*
ultimateprime02

"Movie Leader Optimus Prime = As featured on the cover of ToyFare 116, OPTIMUS PRIME appears in highly detailed robot and Semi tractor mode. Each mode realistically depicts OPTIMUS PRIME as he appears in the film ... In 2007, select figures across Leader, Voyager and Deluxe class feature AUTOMORPH TECHNOLOGY that enhances the vehicle to robot conversion of both AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON warriors. Moving one part of the robot or vehicle causes other parts to move, making armor plates and weapons shift automatically. Movie Leader OPTIMUS PRIME also features ADVANCED AUTOMORPH—an automatic conversion that triggers both lights and sounds ... Movie Leader OPTIMUS PRIME will be at retailers near you beginning June, 2, 2007 for a suggested retail price of $39.99; Ages 5 & up." [via]
and i really haveta say, this is truly rawking! - primarily becoz the "form" seems just about "right" (compared to the other mis-proportioned earlier incarnations, IMHO) and the truck form is outstandingly macho-cool ("flames" not withstanding, 'natch) - and is as close to the earlier-protos (shown here), as folks have been excited over :)
"WIZARD: Will all 13 Transformers identified as being in the movie get toys? Will any get more than one?
HASBRO: Yes, all 13 will be made in some capacity. And many will have multiple versions."
[via]
if they're all gonna be looking like Optimus? ~ i'll be a happy Transfan-noob, i would! :)))

and from (what i deem the "Ultimate") Optimus Prime, we take a look at the quartet of packaging-pix of the Fast Action Battlers-Transformers toys (ie: kiddy simplified versions) that has just hit the www, starting with Power Hook Optimus Prime:

Cannon Blast Ironhide:

The OPTIMUS PRIME VOICE CHANGER HELMET features 3 modes: VOICE CHANGER: Make your voice sound like a robot; BATTLE PHRASES: OPTIMUS PRIME speaks iconic phrases; CONVERSION SOUNDS: Hear OPTIMUS PRIME change from a truck to a robot and back! damn. looks like it could fit an adult head, dunnit? [more here] - heck, even i don't mind having this sit on my work-desk! ... but then again, i would needta find space for it tho ... *heh*

"Blackout is a new character to Transformers, bearing no resemblance to any previous character with the same name. Blackout transforms into a MH-53 Pave Low. According to the screenwriters, Blackout is the largest Decepticon, transporting the other group members and has the ability to disrupt mechanical devices via EMP ... In the film, Blackout and his partner Scorponok will attack the Succent Operations Base in Qatar." [via]
